What is a memorial diamond?

Cremation diamond, also known asa memorial diamond or a diamond made from ashes, is a unique way to transform the ashes of a deceased person or a pet into a precious gemstone. The resulting diamond is a real diamond with the same physical and chemical properties as a natural diamond. However, it is unique in that it is created from the carbon of a loved one's ashes, making it a precious and meaningful memento.

How does it work?

Step 1

Carbon extraction

The first step is to extract carbon from the ashes. Specialised techniques and equipment are used to isolate and purify the carbon from theother components in the ashes.

Step 2

Conversion to graphite

After the carbon is extracted, it is heated to around 3000°C, which transforms carbon into graphite. Graphite is a form of carbon that has a layered structure and is an important intermediate in the diamondgrowing process.

Step 3

Grow in CVD

Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) is an advanced lab-grown diamond technology. In a vacuum chamber, carbon-rich gases like methane are heated into plasma, breaking down carbon atoms that deposit layer by layer on a diamond seed crystal, forming a diamond. This method allows precise control over the diamond's purity and size, producing flawless, high-quality diamonds. It avoids the environmental impact of traditional mining, making it an efficient, sustainable, and ethical solution.

CVD PROCESS

  • We turn hair into ashes, get the carbon out from it. And later mix your carbon into the gas that feed the diamond seeds. The diamond seed will grow from a super thin layer to a cube , which is the rough diamond, from your hair carbon.
